This is the Military Cultural Competency Training. In this training, Military Culture is introduced by recognition of the service branches, their relationship to each other as well as the subcultures found within active and inactive military and veteran populations. A focus on the family and community support will also include mental health aspects that may result as a part of detachment during deployments and possible effects of combat exposure. These mental health topics cover depression, anxiety, stress, PTSD, sexual trauma, the “sleeper effect” of homelessness, moral injury, and the veteran suicide rate for men and women.
While the training covers mental health challenges for this exclusive population, the training will also cover an overview of the network for resources and referrals to mental health, peer support, financial aid, volunteer opportunities, benefits for family, legal aid, justice-involved veterans, and many other local entities that assist in providing help to our Veterans and their familie
